Most Sauv Blanc drinkers are quite familiar with Marlborough, New Zealand, as 90% of New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc comes from Marlborough. There are, however, 6 other regions in New Zealand where the grape is planted. The region of Wairarapa is where the area of Martinborough is located, on the southern end of the Northern Island, north of the city of Wellington. North Island Sauv Blancs are a bit riper and fruitier, as this area is milder and warmer than its Southern Island companion. The 2015 Tora Bay Sauvignon Blanc is intensely aromatic, featuring aromatics of stone fruit, jalapeño and a wonderful, but not overly powerful minerality.
